The programme is aimed at beginner scanners, and includes both theoretical and practical components. The workshop will comprise a total of 16 hours over two days, plus approximately 4-6 hours pre-reading (including a DVD).
The workshop will cover familiarity with equipment, machine set-up and basic obstetric measuring, practice on models and simulators and one-on-one live obstetric and transvaginal scanning using top line ultrasound machines.
This course has been approved by the RANZCOG Ultrasound Working Group for the purposes of meeting the requirement for attendance at a workshop by the end of Year 2 of training.
Registration includes Prof Stone’s ultrasound textbook (and DVD) A Practical Guide to Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The textbook will be circulated upon receipt of registration (including payment). Please review the textbook prior to attendance at the workshop.
Registration will also entitle each registrant to practise their skills by having access to the Ultrasound Simulator at the Deparment of Anatomy with Radiology at the University of Auckland. Registrants can complete up to 3 training modules on the simulator by booking a time that suits following the workshop.
