Course Overview

The course is delivered over one full day, 8.00 am – 4.30 pm. Content is delivered via presentations, simulated emergency obstetric scenarios and group work activities.

The newest version of the PROMPT program - PROMPT 3 will be delivered to participants. PROMPT 3 contains updated data, references and downloadable material together with two new modules, Maternal Critical Care and Care of the Critically Ill Pregnant or Postpartum Woman (CiPP).

Course participants will train with their hospital team. Groups of two teams are paired together to move through the emergency obstetric scenarios. Each team will learn how to setup a scenario, facilitate and debrief.

Each course participant is provided with the following PROMPT resource materials:

Trainer’s manual
Course manual
CiPP manual (Care of the critically ill pregnant patient)
Access to downloadable videos, presentations and printable resources

These manuals will also form the basis of the course pre-reading.

The course resource manuals will be mailed to the team contact approximately two weeks before the course including suggestions for pre-reading.

Who can attend?

Team attendance

The T3 Course is designed for attendance by a hospital ‘obstetric team’. This team, at a minimum, should consist of

An obstetrician
An anaesthetist
Two midwifery staff

(or local equivalents of each)

Hospitals can submit teams of four, five or six participants with any additional team members above the initial four being from their choice of discipline. Hospitals are encouraged to consider faculty representations from those disciplines and departments within the hospital who are most likely to attend obstetric emergencies.

Individual attendance

From time to time hospitals may need to train additional staff in PROMPT facilitation. To support hospitals to maintain adequate faculty numbers registration for individual attendees who meet the following criteria will be accepted, subject to availability:

The individual is from an existing PROMPT trained facility currently running the program
Their attendance at the course is requested by their manager
Upon completion of training they will become a member of the in-house faculty at their hospital

The course fee per individual is $2,117.50 (GST inc)

Individual attendance is not available for this particular course.

The final course program, inclusive of obstetric emergencies to be covered on the day will be made available to participants two weeks before the course date

Venue

The course will be held at the Health Simulation Centre @ Edith Cowan University. The centre is purpose built and assists participants understand the fidelity of the program before running it in their own hospital.
