The RANZCOG Symposium 2024 took place from Friday 5 July to Sunday 7 July at the Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort in Twin Waters, Queensland.

The RANZCOG Symposium 2024 scientific program featured a mix of presentations featuring acclaimed experts from across the O&G specialty. With the theme of ‘Sunrise to Sunset: The Dawn of a New Day in Women's Health’, this symposium explored a broad array of topics: High-Risk Obstetrics, Emerging Technologies in O and G, Urogynaecology and Gynaecology, Rural O&G, The Business of Medicine, Gynaecology and Hot Flushes, Hysteria and Happy Hormones!

Abstracts

A total of 152 abstracts were received for consideration for Free Communication (oral presentation), Static Poster or ePoster presentation. Abstracts were assessed by nominated members of the Working Group and the wider RANZCOG Fellowship against pre-defined assessment criteria, with authors notified of their inclusion on the program or otherwise in early April. During the main program days, 105 ePosters were displayed electronically, 4 abstracts were presented as Free Communications and 16 as Static Posters.

Awards

Best Free Communication was award to Hannah Gordon for the presentation titled Metformin in Pregnancy and Childhood Neurodevelopmental Outcomes: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Best Static Poster was awarded to  Sasha Skinner for the presentation titled Understanding Factors Influencing Team Functionality at Operative Vaginal Birth Through Multidisciplinary Perspectives.

The Queensland State Committee Medal, for the Best Free Communication was awarded to Grace Pickering for the presentation titled Oral Glucose Tolerance Tests and Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction

Two RANZCOG Wellbeing Awards were presented at the Symposium to Christoph Lehner and Luiza Peculis in recognition of their contribution to upholding and exemplifying RANZCOG's wellbeing values.
