Robotic surgery: a 2020 vision - how far has it come? what is its future?

Robotic surgery as we know today was pioneered in the 1990s. It was first approved for use in gynaecology by the FDA in 2005. Since then there has been a steady uptake of robotic-assisted cases mirroring both general surgery and urology. This webinar aims to familiarise participants with the robotic surgery system and its uses in benign gynaecology. This will include videos and discussion on hysterectomy, myomectomy, mesh-sacrocolpopexy and endometriosis. Participants will be then be encouraged to join in a discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of robotic-assisted surgery in New Zealand.
