As a population trans, non-binary and takatāpui people who are gender diverse experience significant health disparities compared to the general population. This can either be compounded or alleviated by the quality, safety and cultural responsiveness of health services.

This workshop, for obstetricians and midwives, offers a face to face, practical and interactive opportunity to unpack the guidelines offered in the recently published research Warming the Whare for trans people and whānau in perinatal care: report findings and guidelines. Then to consider and formulate next steps for application in your obstetric or midwifery context.

The day will include opportunity to:

• explore concepts, guidelines and recommendations in ‘Warming the Whare’ and consider them in relation to your clinical / practice context.
• hear and discuss clinical considerations for trans and gender diverse inclusive obstetric and perinatal care (e.g. gender affirming healthcare guidelines and recommendations, management of gender affirming hormone therapy and infant feeding support). 
• practice and apply learning in clinical simulation tasks.
• consider and formulate next steps in your clinical or practice context to improve trans and gender diverse inclusive obstetric and perinatal care.
