 DAY ONE: Friday 8th November.

 0800              Registration & coffee, meet & greet:

0815              Orientation session for new FRANZCOG trainees:

1015              Morning tea

1030              Intro to course:

1100              Suturing and knot tying: (J&J)

1230              Lunch

1300              Basic abdominal anatomy

1430              Dissection practice: (J&J)

Tutors demonstrate the round and broad ligaments, ureters and uterine artery are represented in 3 dimensions. Dissection of the round and broad ligament. Division of tissues in 2 planes, arterial ligation, suturing and stapling in 2 planes. Vessel cutting, identification of ureters, uterine artery, and mobilization. Arterial and ureteric fluid filled vessels with 5 crossing points, artery over ureter.

1545              Episiotomy and perineal repair – pork belly:  (J&J)

1700              Wrap up and feedback

DAY TWO: Saturday 9th November.

0815              C Section ‘How to’

0845              Laparoscopy

Evidence-based reviews and guidelines, open and closed laparoscopy, including indications, contraindications, risks and complications. Distension media, appropriate use and associated risks and complications. Safe laparoscopic surgery, including patient positioning, equipment and theatre set-up. Entry and exit techniques, including port design, placement, instrument insertion and handling manipulation of laparoscopic instruments.

 

0945              Hysteroscopy: (Medipak)

Hysteroscopy, including indications and contraindications. Identify uterine distension media, appropriate use and associated risks and complications. Diagnostic and simple hysteroscopic operative procedures, including associated risks and complications. Endometrial ablation, including first generation, second generation and endometrial preparation. Describe basic principles of resection, including polyps, fibroid, division of synechiae and septae. Appropriate use of hysteroscopes

1100              Haemostasis (J&J)

Surgical principles for haemostasis

1230              Lunch

1300              Practical skills stations (J&J and Medipak)

Multiple stations: 15 minute sessions rotate through all 5;                        All tutors

Skills trainer boxes,  Hysteroscopy, Laproscopic models, Basic skills set, inor vaginal surgery  principles -Bartholins, Pessaries, etc

1430              Break

1445              Practical skills stations (J&J and Medipak)

1630              Finish

 

DAY THREE: Sunday 10th November.

0830              Demonstration and then practice the following stations;

·     Instrumental delivery

·     Breech Delivery

·     Shoulder Dystosia (HELPERR)

·     Vaginal delivery and manual rotation

1000             10 Minute stations rotate through all 6.

·     Induction of labour

·     Fetal pillow

·     Assessment in labour

·     Fetal scalp electrode

·     Pudendal nerve block

·     Cord sampling

 1100              Morning Tea

 1115              Assisted Vaginal Delivery (AVD)

Talk and demonstration multiple stations trainees rotate

·     Ventouse x 3

·     Outlet Forceps x 3

1215              Lunch

1330              Wrap up with paper scenarios/feedback
