Celebrate a special day for new Fellows, network with your colleagues and mingle with ASM delegates, before the busy scientific programme gets underway on Thursday!

Experience the magic of Hobbiton with colleagues and friends.  

Arriving at dusk at the Hobbiton site you will be guided through the village before being seated in a marquee to enjoy the Hobbit's feast and an entertaining speech by Sir Russell Alexander, the owner of Hobbiton about his journey from being a farmer to building this successful business. After the feast, you will be able to take an exclusive night time guided lantern walk through the site. Entertainment and music will be provided throughout the evening.

A bus will take you from SKYCITY to the Hobbiton Movie Set at the conclusion of day 1 of the Scientific programme.
